How I work
Find out more about the process of working with me, with this step-by-step guide:
1 INITIAL CONTACT
If you approach me for a quote, I can usually provide one within 24-48 hours. I’ll begin by emailing you a briefing form, containing a few pertinent questions to give me a better idea of your requirements.
Once I receive the completed form, I will send you a cost estimate, outlining the details of the job, with a full breakdown of rates. For editorial & blog work, I normally charge by the word, and for copywriting and advertising projects, I usually quote a maximum number of projected hours.
Once approved, we’ll agree a delivery date, which I guarantee to meet.
To understand your business, your brand, your Unique Selling Points (USPs) and your objectives, I’ll ask a series of more detailed questions. For speed and efficiency, I usually conduct all conversations by phone/Skype, or via email. In-person meetings are rarely either necessary, or the best use of our time – though if a nearby client strongly prefers an in-person meeting, this can be arranged.
I’ll provide whatever you’ve asked for on time, usually via Word doc. You’re free to feed back to me with any amends, and my initial quote usually allows for one rounds of client amends.
If you need full service creative (ie. both text and design work), I will enlist the best candidate from a team of specialist graphic designers and web developer colleagues I work with.
Together we’ll develop basic layouts of whatever you require (for example website wireframes or basic design layouts). You’ll normally receive 2-3 basic ideas, from which you can choose your favourite, and we’ll then work up complete design layouts for your approval.
We’ll ask for your feedback as we progress – so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to contribute and shape the working process. Collaboration is key! After all, you’re the client, and no one knows your business like you do. I aim to do the best job, that exceeds your expectation every time, so it’s crucial that we work together, every step of the way.
Once complete and signed off, your work will be delivered. If it’s a print job, we’ll deliver final artwork files to you – and we can even guide you with printing options, and help you to source the right suppliers.
If it’s a website, we’ll build a test site, before delivering the final files and making the site ‘live’. We’ll also provide you with training and documentation to enable you to make minor changes and upload new content yourself, using a Content Management System (usually WordPress).
A 50% upfront payment is usually required before commencement of work.
You’ll be invoiced the final 50% on completion of the work. Payment terms are within 30 days.
